Located in the furthermost Southern part of Africa it has one of the highest rates of HIV prevalence in the world with 5,7 million HIV infected individuals. About 1000 new infections occur each day and approximately 350 000 AIDS related deaths occur annually leaving 3.8 million children orphaned and vulnerable. Main problems facing family

Family Impact in South Africa

Family Impact is a Faith-based organisation which supports a large variety of institutions, churches, and businesses in their response to communicable diseases by celebrating the beauty of God’s plan for family life and relationships and promoting its transforming power. We recognize the family as the centre of community well-being and aim to create social transformation through training and equipping people with appropriate resources to build and transform them for positive moral living through decisions made out of sound personal conviction.

Family Impact South Africa being the newest office to be established has 4 departments: Families for Life (F4L), Children & Youth, Men and Women. The ones running currently are Children & Youth and F4L with the rest set to be added as we progress.

1. FAMILIES FOR LIFE

Families For Life (F4L) department is there to raise champions in the Churches and communities empowering them to build strong relationships between spouses and the family (children). This department celebrates the beauty and transforming power of the plan of God for relationships in family. The following programs are offered in this department (workshops and trainings):

  • Premarital Counseling
  • Positive Parenting
  • Enjoy your Marriage
  • Caregiver Workshops

2. LIFESKILLS PROGRAM

Children, teenagers and youth are struggling to cope with change as they grow up in an uncertain and often hopeless environment. The life skills program brings a message of hope in Christ and the freedom to follow God’s plan through exciting camps, seminars and team building activities in schools and church groups.

- The Leadership Tree Course is a program which was specifically developed to empower school Representative Council Leaders (RCLs) to lead efficiently and with integrity. It revolves around the Leadership Tree, which conceptualizes leadership as a tree with 6 key elements. Topics within the six foundational ones include Vision, Passion, Leadership Styles, Teamwork Values and Conflict Resolution. This transformational training is concluded with an Action section that puts the ideas into a practical context.

-The Schools Development program which trains and develops teachers and support staff as well as parents to develop well equipped schools that will enable children to receive an education that goes beyond the classroom, creating an environment where a child’s emotional, physical, mental, social and spiritual needs are met.
