Burundi
It is a landlocked country in the great Lakes region of Eastern Africa. The Twa, Tutsi and the Hutu people have occupied Burundi since the country’s formation five centuries ago. Political unrest occurred throughout the region because of social differences between the Tutsi and the Hutu provoking civil war in Burundi throughout the middle 20th century. By 2008 over 500 000 of the Burundian populace had been displaced due to the HIV/AIDS.
Family Impact in Burundi
Super Mission dans les Familles in Burundi became a Family Impact member in 2008. The main emphasis is on teaching and counselling on marriage in churches and communities and on a weekly programme on national radio. There is also a vibrant outreach to young people in Life skills teaching and a cyber cafe that operates as a drop in center for young people.
